Description

The Hive DGO is a youth centered non-profit that provides programming through passion based exploration of skateboarding,  music,  art and beyond.  The Hive DGO strives to support journeys in self discovery by providing a brave and inclusive space for under-resourced and underrepresented youth.  We hope to empower those that dare to be different by facilitating creative expression and guidance in shaping future community leaders.

 

Service Position Summary:  This position serves as the first point of contact at The Hive,  welcoming youth and community members at the front desk and ensuring a warm,  inclusive environment.  Responsibilities include checking in participants,  maintaining accurate attendance and program data,  supporting internal policy implementation,  and assisting with the organization’s youth mental health initiatives.  This role plays a key part in creating a safe and supportive space by monitoring participant well-being,  identifying needs or concerns,  and connecting youth with appropriate resources.  By balancing administrative tasks with empathetic engagement,  this team member helps uphold The Hive’s commitment to safety,  equity,  and youth-centered care.

 

Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:  Team Up AmeriCorps members serve directly at their Host Site organization to develop,  implement,  and enhance programs,  projects,  and activities through direct and indirect service.  Duties include:

  • Greet and check in youth and visitors at the front desk in a welcoming,  inclusive manner
  • Track daily attendance and program participation in The Hive’s data systems
  • Implement “Pay It Forward”  scholarship program and track data for this new program
  • Collect,  manage,  and report on program data to support evaluation and grant requirements
  • Support implementation of internal policies,  including safety and conduct protocols
  • Monitor youth engagement and help identify emerging mental health or behavioral concerns
  • Act as a liaison between youth,  mentors,  and leadership when support needs arise
  • Assist with referrals to internal or external mental health resources when appropriate
  • Maintain a clean,  organized,  and safe front desk and common area environment
  • Provide administrative support for events,  programs,  and communications as needed
  • Promote a trauma-informed and youth-centered approach in all interactions
  • Track host site and AmeriCorps data
  • Attend Team Up AmeriCorps regional trainings,  cohort connection days,  and Days of Service

Qualifications / Career Path

Desired Qualifications:

  • Ethic of national and community service and a strong desire to create positive change
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing;  computer literate
    • High School Graduate required (GED accepted,)  college graduate or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Ability to pass criminal history check
  • Reliable transportation &  proof of auto insurance
  • U.S.  Citizenship or lawful permanent resident status required  

 

Term of Service -  Time Commitment:  This is a Reduced Half Time national and community service position requiring approximately 25 hours/week.  The position begins October 14,  2025 and ends May 31,  2026.  Flexible hours are required,  including occasional evening and weekend commitments.  Service on the following dates is required:

 

  • October 14-15:  Team Up AmeriCorps Member Orientation
    • October 15:  Meet n’  Greet with all Members &  Site Supervisors
  • October 16:  First Day at Host Site/Host Site Orientation
  • Jan 19:  Dr.  MLK Jr.  Day Activity
  • March 31:  Cesar Chavez Day of Service
  • April TBD:  Spring Convening of Members &  Site Supervisors
  • 2nd Wednesdays,  monthly:  Cohort Connections
    • in-person in November,  February,  April,  and June

 

Training and Support Provided:  Team Up AmeriCorps members receive significant training and experience in community engagement,  project implementation,  leadership,  diverse populations,  and more.  Up to 20%  of total hours served may be spent in applicable,  approved trainings.  Members will be supervised and supported by Kelsie Borland (kelsie@hivedgo.org),  as well as by Team Up AmeriCorps program staff.  The PY 25-26 cohort of Team Up AmeriCorps members serving throughout the region will also act as additional resources and support for each other.

Location and Service Conditions:  This position is based at 1175 Camino del Rio,  Durango,  CO 81301.  Occasional off-site engagement and partnership activities,  meetings,  etc.  will be required.

  • A living allowance of approx.  $769.28/per pay period (twice per month).  Taxes are deducted and the living allowance is distributed by direct deposit to the member’s bank account.
